Digital and Public Humanities Projects
Global River Border Database
Much of my research questions people, processes, and places we might take for granted. This database of river borders across the world helps the viewer investigate and evaluate the materiality of political borders, moving away from the tropes of walls and fences.
More about the database here.
Public Humanities
In Fall 2023, students in my INT 314: Life Journeys course, put together an exhibit, including objects from their lives, that chronicles objects, memories, ideas, people, and places that contributed to their identity.
You can explore the exhibit here.
Digital Heritage
As a SEEK fellow, I worked with the MSU Museum on the Observation Experiment where viewers reflected on observation as a process and feeling. My exhibit centered on 3-D prints of artifacts from archaeological sites in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, on Drummond Island. See more here. Photos courtesy of Dr. Ethan Watrall (MSU).
Public Humanities
In Fall 2023, students in my ENS 238: Polluted, Poisoned, and Pillaged course, put together an exhibit, based on extensive primary and secondary source data gathering and analysis. The exhibit identifies and analyzes important moments in Michigan’s history.
You can explore the exhibit here.
Environmental Humanities: Confluence
I made a StoryMaps JS for Confluence which is an environmental humanities project bridging activism and academia to North American rivers.
